SpamAssassin is generally regarded as one of the most effective spam filters, especially when used in combination with spam databases. Even simple text-matching alone may, for most users, be sufficient to correctly classify a majority of incoming mail.
The following Spam Block lists are used by us to help cut down on the amount of spam. The Block Lists we select are well-known to be fast acting, fair, and clear in their listing/delisting policies.
The Spamcop Block List (SCBL) contains IP addresses which have been reported to SpamCop as carriers of spam, whether directly or indirectly. Some of these reports come from "spamtraps" (email addresses used strictly to receive spam). The reports about spam from a given system are weighted against the amount of mail from the same system to determine a spam report rate.
